The basics

What is Simple Pixel?
An active gaming venue: eight physical game rooms where you run, jump, throw, dodge and react to lights and targets, with your score tracked in real time. Think of it as a video game you play with your whole body, alongside your friends.
How does a session work?
Check in, get your RFID wristband, and pick any room. Tap in at the door, choose a game and difficulty, and play a fast round (most last one to three minutes). Then move on to the next room. During your session you can play any of the eight rooms as many times as you like and try to beat your own score.
How long is a session?
Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes. Sixty minutes is a great first visit; ninety gives you time to try every room and replay your favorites.
Do I need to be athletic or good at video games?
No. Every game has multiple difficulty levels, so an eight-year-old and a college athlete can play the same room and both have a good time. You'll move a lot, but at your own pace.
Is it like Activate?
If you've played Activate or a similar venue, you'll feel at home: the concept of rooms, wristbands and live scoring is the same. Our games and rooms are our own, and we're right in downtown San Jose.

Ages & who can play

Is there a minimum age?
Yes, players must be 8 or older. Players under 12 need an adult in their group who is also playing, so they can help with the wristband and the rules. Younger children can come along to watch but can't be in the game rooms while a round is running.
Is it good for kids' birthdays?
Very. It's active, it's screen-free-ish, and every kid gets a score to brag about. See Birthday Parties for birthday packages.
Can I come alone or as a pair?
Yes. Many games work solo, and pairs are one of the most common bookings. For team games you'll play against your own best score, or team up with other players if you'd like.
Is it accessible?
The venue is on one level with an elevator to Suite 250. Several rooms can be played at a slower pace or seated; others involve ducking, running or throwing. Email us before your visit and we'll walk you through which rooms will work best.

Pricing & booking

How much does it cost?
$30 per player for 60 minutes or $40 per player for 90 minutes. That includes all eight rooms, your wristband and live scoring. No hidden fees. Soft-opening prices apply to sessions through October 31, 2026; later sessions cost $38 for 60 minutes or $50 for 90 minutes.
Can I plan a corporate team event?
Yes. We arrange team events for 10–60 players, with rotating sessions for larger teams. See Team Building for planning details and a custom quote.
Do I need to book ahead?
We recommend it. Sessions start every 30 minutes and the venue holds a limited number of players at a time, so weekends and evenings fill up. If there's space when you walk in, we'll happily get you playing.
What if my group is bigger than 12?
Online bookings are for groups of 1 to 12. For anything larger, or for a private buyout, use the event inquiry form and we'll set it up for you.
What's your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation or rescheduling up to 24 hours before your session start. Inside 24 hours the booking is non-refundable, but you can always reduce your headcount or send someone in your place.
Can I add players on the day?
If there's capacity in your time slot, yes — just let the front desk know when you check in.
Do you sell gift cards?
Coming soon. Email us and we'll let you know the moment they're available.

Before you arrive

What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in and closed-toe athletic shoes (sneakers are best). No sandals, Crocs, heels or bare feet in the game rooms.
When should I arrive?
About 10 minutes before your start time, so you can check in, get wristbands and hear the quick briefing. Your session clock starts at your booked time.
Where do I park?
Street parking on and around Bassett Street, plus several public garages within a couple of blocks. We're also a short walk from VTA Light Rail and Diridon Station, and there's bike parking on site.
Can I bring food or drinks?
Water is welcome. Please keep other food and drinks outside the game rooms. Group and party bookings can reserve a table for cake and snacks.
Do you have lockers?
Yes, free cubbies for bags, jackets and phones. You won't want anything in your pockets while you play.

Playing

How does scoring work?
Every game awards points based on speed, accuracy, or how far you get. Your wristband records each round, and your scores appear on the screens in the venue. Play a room again to beat your best.
Is it safe?
Games are designed for players 8 and up: soft targets, padded surfaces where needed, and staff on the floor. Rooms have a maximum number of players per round, and our host will show you how each one works.
Can I take photos or videos?
Please do — and tag us so we can share it. Just keep phones out of the rooms while a round is running.
